Have you found your Honey yet?

2014年4月28日

Honey, impressions of sweet, creamy and healthy, I think there are few people feeling reluctant to honey. If you are thinking like “It would be wonderful if there are many different kinds of honey available”, a honey shop “miel mie” located in Sanjo of Kyoto which has established for over 80 years can probably satisfy your wants.

“miel mie” is French, meaning “my honey”. There are many honey products in that shop, from usual honey, to honey with flower or fruit flavours. Both Japan and overseas imported honey are available. Some flavours are so special which I have never seen before, such as Japanese pepper honey, acorn honey, buckwheat honey, etc. Apart from pure honey, there are also meads and honey jams. So, finding “your honey” should be not that difficult.

There are so many choices, so my mind was struggling which to buy as I couldn’t come up a decision. And then I saw there is a café in the most inner part of the shop. I looked at the board outside the shop, you can use honey inside the café as much as you like! Went for a try for sure~ There is a tray on each table having 6 bottles of honey with different flavours (Apple, Blueberry, Hungary Acacia, Toast, Dandelion and Buckwheat). You can use them all as much as you like. The tags on the bottles showing the flavour are so adorable. I ordered a toast and there was the logo of the shop baked on the toast. It should be the outstanding characteristic of that toast~

Toast flavour definitely is especially for toast. But of course, I tried all flavours. Maybe partly due to the perception which the tag “Toast” gave me, I really felt “Toast” flavour was the best match with toast among all the flavours. The tastes were good for all. Almost all were of a clear taste, except the buckwheat one. That one had a strong taste of wheat. That’s quite special. Honey with coffee or tea (I ordered a tea) is also a good match, but I felt I had taken too much honey already… Also I had tried all flavours, so I didn’t add any honey to the tea.

After the café time, it’s time for me to have the final decision which honey to buy… And my choice was a rose honey with rose petals added and a spring limited product, Amaou strawberry honey jam. There were 2 other spring limited products, cherry blossom honey with cherry blossom petals added and peach & raspberry honey jam. I’d love to have them all also, but sadly I didn’t bring them back home… I used that strawberry honey jam with toast. There were so many strawberry pulps inside! What a luxurious jam~

If you want to have souvenirs which are special and you can make a good use of them, you can have so many choices in this honey shop. There is present wrapping service available there, so it can also be a good choice for present.
