LOCALIZATION

JAPANESE

Speed with Precision

At KINSHA, we believe that translation is so much more than the act of simply changing one word to another.
Localization, as it is normally called in this industry, is the process of communicating a language’s history and culture through words.
It is also a service that is becoming more and more important for content creators in our increasingly globalized world, especially when it comes to the video game industry.
KINSHA’s localization team—a group of game lovers that specialize in game translation—will ensure that your game’s world comes alive for people around the world.

How to Place an Order

We develop our strategy based on your unique needs to ensure a smooth translation process.

  • STEP 1
    First Contact
Send us brief details of your project using one of the options below:
    Website inquiry form: https://www.kinsha.co.jp/contact/
    Email: localize@kinsha.co.jp
Telephone: 075-361-4391 (Please ask for the Localization Group)
  • STEP 2
    Discussion
One of our localization representatives will contact you so that we can hear more about your project and what kind of localization you are looking for. To give you an idea of what to expect, we will ask about the type of files to be translated, the project schedule, which languages you want, and what type of audience the game will be for.
  • STEP 3
    Preliminary Estimate
We will provide you with an estimate of the cost and time required for the translation, based on the provided word (or character) count and your desired schedule.
  • STEP 4
    Translation, Editing,
    and Proofreading
For each project, we carefully select translators whose prior experience and personal preferences suit the needs and style of your game, and whenever possible, we ensure that the people creating your localization play the game to ensure a thorough understanding of the source text. Furthermore, project managers may ask questions about the game or the text to ensure that the atmosphere and the characters’ personalities remain consistent in the localized text.

Once the first draft of a localization is created, it will be checked for mistranslations by an editor who is a native speaker in the text’s source language. This helps us reproduce the correct nuances of words and phrases that only those raised in a particular culture might understand.

Finally, a proofreader will go over the text and correct any unnatural phrases or linguistic errors and will check terminology for consistency throughout the game.
  • STEP 5
    Submission
We will submit the final file according to your specifications. We will also leave comments explaining our translation choices or offering alternative translations where appropriate. If you find that there are any changes you would like to make to the translated text, like a specific in-game term, we will edit the text free of charge.
